11 August 2010 – Bedford, Texas — Longtime night vision and aircraft lighting pioneer, James R. “Jim” Garrett has joined night vision specialist, REBTECH as part of the company’s ongoing expansion and capability enhancement. Garrett brings with him over 40 years of aircraft instrument manufacturing and repair experience as well as a broad background in night vision lighting technology.  In 1987, Jim was awarded the aerospace crew station lighting certification from the Aerospace Lighting Institute and he also holds a patent for aircraft instrument lighting design.  In addition, Jim served as the NVIS lighting co-chair for the RTCA special committee SC-196 during the development of the DO-275 Operational Requirements for NVG implementation into the National Airspace System (NAS).

Jim Garrett will maintain an office at the REBTECH facility located in Bedford, Texas where he will be an important part of operations focusing on the research and development component of the company.  REBTECH is currently involved in several large government contracts around the world to convert airplanes and helicopters to night vision compatible cockpits, cabins and external lighting.  The company is also in the process of converting several law enforcement, air medical, training aircraft and simulators for night vision compatible operations for civil and military operations.

Company President, Richard Borkowski commented, “I had worked with Jim twenty years ago on some of the first ever aircraft modified for NVG use.  From A-6’s and OH-58 used during the first Gulf war to the design of lighting components that are still in use today on F-16’s and C-130’s.  We have enjoyed a great working relationship in the past and I look forward to reestablishing that working relationship with him again.  We are very pleased that Jim has joined REBTECH and we look forward to his contributions.”
