REBTECH Receives 3 New NVG Lighting STC’s in Second Quarter of 2006
ALEA, New Orleans, LA — REB Technologies, Inc. (REBTECH) has been awarded three new Supplementary Type Certificates (STCs) by the FAA during the second quarter of 2006 for the installation of Night Vision Goggle compatible lighting.
The first of three new STC’s, is for the REBTECH proprietary SHADOWS™ white filters, used exclusively for the modification of Bell helicopter models 212, 412, 412EP, 412CF and the second STC is for the Eurocopter helicopter models AS350B3 and EC130B4.
SHADOWS™ filter applications include internal instrument installation and externally mounted SHADOWS™ screens. All of the modifications include true color rendering of NAV/COMM equipment, instrument dials and multi-color AMLCD displays. In addition, the switches and annunciators exhibit what has become known in the aviation industry as “REBTECH Red and REBTECH Amber” that not only meet FAA IR Requirements but also meet the sunlight readable requirements.
A third STC was awarded for the installation of NVG compatible lighting on the Bell model 205B-1. The modification includes original configuration of post lights that incorporates SHADOWS™ filters. All other instruments and displays of the model 205B-1 are filtered with SHADOWS™ screens or internal filter installations.
This brings the number of aircraft covered under REBTECH STC’s to 16. Richard Borkowski, Vice President of REB Technologies stated, ” In the past 3 years our customer base has changed from almost 100% military aircraft to a mixture of Law Enforcement and EMS which makes up about 70% of our current business. REBTECH is well suited for the law enforcement market due to the number of STC’s we currently have and are in the process of obtaining. We have a trained team who will go to the customers’ facility to do the aircraft surveys and installs, which saves our customers both time any money.” Projects completed for various Police agencies and Sheriffs Departments have given us a firm understanding of what the Law Enforcement Airborne community wants and needs in their Night Vision systems.”
Last month, San Diego Police Department accepted their second of (4) Eurocopter AS350B3’s of which will the final two will deliver this fall. REBTECH was selected by the customer to supply an STC night vision kit on all (4) of the new aircraft. Officer- Pilot Richard Parrella of the SDPD Air Support Unit stated, “Our Department did extensive research on the different types of NVG lighting systems out in the market for our new AS350B3. We chose
REB TECHNOLOGIES for our lighting because of the quality of the lighting they install and the options they presented to us in the modification process.”
